I flew to Taiwan, spent a few days in Taipei, enjoying the best things the city has to offer.
Six or so days later I took a train down south in hopes of some waves.
I checked back in to my favorite hostel....ever, rented a motorbike and went to check the waves. Super choppy but sizeable. Went out anyways, wasn't the best, but the water temperature was better then Canada.
The next day's early morning surf check was a nice surprise.
Hollow, overhead, and nobody out. Score. During the morning session the max crowd was about 5 of us, met some pretty cool foreigners who lived in Taiwan and spent the rest of the days surfing with them.
I went to the nearby 7-11 later that evening for the classic instant noodles and Taiwan beer dinner, and saw our old buddy Otis still running the parking lot.
The next morning was solid also, same crowd.
I spent the afternoons checking other spots, visiting my local monkey friends, and creeping in on the filming of a Jackie Chan movie, yep saw the Kung Fu master in action.
Last day I was lucky enough to get some waves too. Took the train back to the city after a morning session with a wet wetsuit, sore shoulders, and good memories from a good place.
